Introduction

Life can be very tough. When you are trying your best to change things for the better — be it in your professional, physical or mental faculties, you are frequently encountering roadblocks, pushback and overall resistance.

To overcome these obstacles consistently we must learn to be resilient.
Our natural instinct isn’t to always be motivated, optimistic and hopeful for the future. Pessimism and negativity can and do creep in very easily.

It is not unnatural to have a period each year where you’re feeling overly down and demotivated about life. In fact, you could say this is common.

As time passes and effort is sustained we become tougher and therefore better at dealing with these sort of cycles. This naturally leads to them diminishing in frequency.

This sort of hardening is a double-edged sword — such gains in resilience typically come from pain. We endure some hardship, perhaps even suffering, but in the end we improve, so we end up being grateful for all the bad times we’ve had. After all, we wouldn’t be where we are without them.
